Stephen A Smith is an American sports personality. He is notably a sports presenter on television, a sports radio host, a sports journalist and an actor. Stephen has made many attempts in his sports career: he started his career in the print media with the Winston-Salem Journal, the Greensboro News-Record and the New York Daily News.
In 1914, Smith took a writing position for The Philadelphia Inquirer. His relationship with Inquirer ended in 2008, and the same year he launched his own blog, stephena.com. Stephen A Smith was born on October 14, 1967 in the Bronx borough of New York to African American parents. With the exception of Smith’s maternal grandmother who was white, the rest of her grandparents were black. His father ran a hardware store. He has five siblings: four older sisters and a younger brother called Basil, who died in a car accident in October 1992. There is also a half-brother from his father.
Stephen graduated from Thomas Edison High School in Queens. He then attended the Fashion Institute of Technology for a year, after which he received a basketball scholarship to attend public Wisdom-Salem University, a historically black college in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While still in college, Smith played basketball with Hall of Fame coach Clarence Gaines. He also wrote a column for the college newspaper The News-Argus.
