Dario Franchitti reveals he's become dad with new wife three years after splitting with Ashley Judd

DARIO Franchitti has retired from motor racing – but he still cuts some speed when it comes to his personal life.

The Scot split from film star Ashley Judd just three years ago and he has already become a dad with his new wife.

Indy Car champion Franchitti tied the knot with Eleanor Robb last year.

They now have a baby daughter called Sofia.

Franchitti, from Bathgate in West Lothian, separated from Judd in 2013 after more than 11 years of marriage. Later in the year, he was seriously injured in a 200mph crash at the Houston Grand Prix in Texas.

Franchitti, who was forced to retire after the smash, said he enjoys getting to spend more time in his homeland.

He added: “I got remarried and my wife and I spend time here in Scotland and we spend time in London.

“I’m still involved with Indy Car racing, working with Gunassi team, doing commentary for Formula E and doing programmes on classic cars for Goodwood TV.

“Then somewhere in between that, getting to try and spend time with my wife and baby.

“I’d been homesick for 15 years. I had the most wonderful life in America but I was homesick, so the fact I get to spend more time here is great for me.”

The star’s low-key second marriage was in stark contrast to his wedding to Judd in 2001, when the couple took over the luxury Skibo Castle in Dornoch, Sutherland, for a lavish reception.
